About Working to Stay Young: Expanded Careers for Boomers and Seniors
turns the tables on the idea of retirement. Not satisfied with traditional retiree
opportunities, Jacky Hood outlines why this is the time for Boomers and Seniors
to fulfill their career dreams and make a lasting contribution to a company, an
industry or a profession. "In our work with
older adults, we know that boomers are redefining retirement and designing their
futures to remain vital and productive, said Lisa Hendrickson, CEO, Avenidas
Center. For many, this will involve working long after the traditional retirement
age of 65. Jacky makes a strong case for always working 'in retirement' and gives
a roadmap for having it all while continuing to work." This
book provides the reader with dozens of reasons to have a job or a career after
60 and explains how to achieve these goals in a youth-oriented society. Learn
how staying in the work force helps not only the wealth of older adults, but their
health, and social life as well as the economy and society. Using role models
ranging from Paul Newman to a 92-year-old social worker, the author illustrates
how to be yourself, and also appreciate our youth-oriented culture.
The author helps readers evaluate their own skills and personality in choosing
several options for the third and most productive stage in their career, including
how a few simple changes in clothing, vocabulary, and posture can convey energy
and enthusiasm. The book is available from Amazon
and Happy
